COOKIES

The Online Aviation Theory website uses a 'cookie' to lock a user's access code to one computer to ensure their details are not shared with others.

When you log in, the server sends a cookie with a random code to your computer, and when you sign in next time it looks for that cookie. If it is not there, you will not get access to the site. When it finds the cookie, it gives you access, deletes that cookie, and sends a new one, this cookie does not have any other function, and it does NOT take any information from your computer.

To make sure you have continued access to the site, you must allow cookies from the Online Aviation Theory website as follows.

These instructions for INTERNET EXPLORER '7', other versions will be similar.

In I.E.7, click on TOOLS > POP UP BLOCKER, and set it to allow pop ups from www.OnlineAviationTheory.com.

Go back to TOOLS and click on INTERNET OPTIONS > PRIVACY > SITES, you will then see a small screen with two compartments. In the upper compartment, type in the web address www.OnlineAviationTheory.com, and when it appears in the lower block, select ALLOW.

You then need to check the settings in your anti-virus program, and depending on your system, either set it to allow cookies from www.OnlineAviationTheory.com or nominate it as a 'trusted site'.

In the PRIVACY section of the Mcafee anti-virus program there are 3 options - ACCEPT ALL COOKIES – REJECT ALL COOKIES – or – ACCEPT SELECTED COOKIES. Other anti-virus programs may have a similar choice; make sure you DO NOT reject all cookies.

Cookies are a common way of spreading viruses, so the safest option is to only accept selected cookies. If you decide to ACCEPT SELECTED COOKIES, you will get a pop up saying 'OnlineAviationTheory.com want to send you a cookie' – select YES to this, and any other sites you trust. You will get this message from other sites as you enter them for the first time, you should reject those you do not know and trust. In most cases it will still let you in, it just stops them putting anything on your computer.

NOTE - Your USERNAME and PASSWORD cannot contain any gaps between characters, and they must each contain at least 5 characters.

For security reasons, the course will only be accessible from the computer that you register from, so if you intend using a laptop at any time, use it when you first register, and then connect it to a desktop monitor and keyboard in any location for subsequent use.

The information in this course cannot be downloaded, which means you will have to access the internet and supply your username and password each time you want to use it.
